Remote-Controlled Monitoring of Flying Pests with an Electrostatic Insect Capturing Apparatus Carried by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The purpose of the study was to construct an electrostatic insect-capturing apparatus that could be applied a drone (quadcopter). For this purpose, double-charged dipolar electric field screen (DD-screen) constructed using oppositely charged insulator tubes then attached drone. charging, inner surface coated with conductive paste and linked negative or positive voltage generator. opposite charges formed between them created attractive force capture insects entered field. DD-screen here sufficiently light enable its attachment hung from perpendicular direction movement, so as receive longitudinal airflow produced by movement It positioned 1.8 m below body avoid influence downward slipstream generated rotating propellers. Eventually, able conduct stable flight, sufficient endurance, captured airborne carried 8 m/s during flight. This study, therefore, provides experimental basis for establishing new method conducting trap-based monitoring remote-controlled flight through operation
